Building Paid Media from Zero for an Established but Organic Brand

By launching paid media for a brand that had never advertised, we significantly increased sales among both net new customers and previous buyers.

Building Paid Media from Zero for an Established but Organic Brand

4.1x Blended ROAS across the first 129 days of paid media

8–65x Return on drop-moment campaigns vs 3x always-on

2x Purchases from repeat customers

THE CHALLENGE

A ten-year old brand had grown organically and established a strong social media presence, but wanted to scale beyond the organic plateau.

They had never experimented with ads before, and had limited experience managing e-commerce promotion beyond e-mail and social posting.

For the brand, the challenge was to sell through an entire catalog of product, and to attract new customers while re-engaging previous customers. Relying on organic reach via social media had put limits on how much of the brand’s organic audience could be reached.

The account sat below the conversion volume the platform's optimization prefers, so we needed a structure that would learn fast and optimize given trial budgets.

WHAT WE DID

Guidelight built the account from scratch: pixel, catalog feed, campaign architecture. We started with catalog and social-proof ads as the always-on floor, then built short-flight bursts around the moments that mattered including a private sale, a three-day limited tee drop, and a collection launch.

We were able to achieve a standard, always-on ROAS that exploded when ads were connected to limited edition drops and strong cultural moments.

THE TAKEAWAY

For a seasonal or moment-driven brand, always-on media is the floor, not the engine. The return lives in concentrated bursts around release moments, so the media calendar has to be built from the product calendar backwards.
